Grid Calibration
If lens distortion is removed from an image sequence, it is possible to improve tracking quality and improve the fit of digital elements in the original footage. Grid Calibration uses checkerboard grids to compute the amount of distortion in the image.
Overview
Using the Grid Calibration tool it is possible to compute the first and second order radial distortion coefficients and lens center for a known focal length. In addition, these parameters are computed on a per channel basis, so it is possible to remove chromatic abberations from the footage. The Grid Calibration generates a calibration file that can be imported into the Lens Distort 2 tool, removing the guess work from lens distortion removal.
